Alan and Anne have lived in their 17th century fully double-glazed stone house for the past six years. They installed solar panels four years ago, narrowly missing the feed-in tariff deadline. Then they doubled the thickness of their roof insulation in the four roofs before replacing their oil-fired boiler with an air-source heat pump using the government's renewable heat incentive. Finally, a year ago they installed a battery and electric charger for their fully electric car.
