Self-build incl Water harvesting, Tisbury

Our home is a  2 storey stone self-build detached house 12 years ago.  The garden walls make use of the stone remains of previous habitations on the site.   We built the house with the hope of emulating the standards set by the Passiv House movement.  So we are well insulated  with triple glazing. The house has an MVHR system and underfloor heating.  Solar panels provide electricity and  an electric car acts as battery storage.

We did install a rainwater harvesting system.  We did expect it to be problematic, but was it worth it?  Yes in the long run.  Our water company tells us we use half the water that anyone else round gets through
