I had a 6-panel 2.4kWp PV system installed in 2021 under the government's Green Homes scheme. I was so pleased with it's performance I decided to upgrade at my own cost. I have donated my old system to the local village hall. In January 2024 I had the following system installed - 10.32kWp PV system (24 x 430W solar panels - 6 each facing N, S, E, W), 30.72Ah battery storage system (6 x 5.12Ah server-rack batteries in a bespoke cabinet), MyEnergi Eddi (power diverter for hot water.) I changed my energy tariff from Octopus Flexible (Standard Variable Rate) to Octopus Flux (cheaper import rate from 0200 to 0500, higher export rate from 1600 to 1900). In the event of a power-cut the system is configured to provide whole-house backup, except for the cooker and immersion heater. I had fitted high-performance triple-glazing to all first-floor windows (6 large, 2 small) a couple of years ago and double-glazing to all ground-floor doors and windows over 20 years ago. I am gradually replacing all incandescent/halogen lighting with LED items as they fail. I have been keeping meticulous records of my energy usage and costs and am happy to share these with any interested parties.
Please note - The batteries and inverter cannot be seen without climbing a flight of stairs.
