This 1950s semi-detached home includes solar PV and solar thermal, battery storage, and an air source heat pump.

We started with 3 solar thermal panels for hot water in the early 2000s and added 9 solar PV panels in 2010.  So far we have generated nearly 25 Mw and benefit from an inflation proof feed-in tariff for 25 years.  In 2020, we installed batteries to store excess input from the panels and it has transformed our energy use.  Our electricity bill in the summer was very low (about 1 unit per day). We had gas central heating until the boiler broke down in 2022 and decided to replace it with an air source heat pump which was installed last year.  We are still learning how to use it most efficiently!  The huge hot water tank is amazing and heats up very quickly via the panels in the summer and using the heat pump and immersion heater in autumn and winter.  Very happy with everything so far.
