My house was renovated and extended in 2014-2015. Our aim was to make the house comfortable but cheaper to run, and as eco friendly as we could. We upgraded the insulation in the old part, including floor and internal wall insulation throughout.

All windows are triple glazed.

We installed underfloor heating throughout the house and a heat pump which uses water from the river Lambourn as the heat source. We also have solar hot water heating and a heat recovery ventilation system.

In 2014, we installed 4kWp of solar PV (electricity generating) and have just completed an upgrade to 16kWp and 30kWh of battery storage.

We have a rainwater tank, collecting water from the gutters and feeding the toilet cisterns and the garden taps.
