This 1930's chalet bungalow has been retrofitted over a number of years. I am a qualified energy assessor of new and retrofitted homes, so I have made a 'whole house strategy' which I am still following. This home includes;

  • Cavity wall insulation
  • Optimum loft insulation
  • Replacement windows and external doors in keeping with the character of the house
  • Heating by pellet boiler and wood stove
  • Hot water from solar thermal
  • Solar pv providing electricity alongside Ecotricity grid supply.

I have installed a battery to make best use of my solar generation. I have also started insulating under floor. Having to refit my bathroom, I made the decision to insulate that floor as per my personal pledge/wholehouse strategy that I formed some years ago.
